The Ibrox fire sale is underway with claims that Newcastle and Derby County are ready to bid for Josh Windass.

Last week Mark Warburton revealed that he was hopeful of bringing in a European based goal-scoring midfield play-maker on loan, someone whose motivation wasn’t the biggest pay offer.

It all seems a little bit like Peter Lawwell’s description of the offer he turned down for Gary Hooper in 2011.

This morning The Sun changes topic and claims: “RANGERS could face shock January bids for Josh Windass from English Championship rivals Derby County and Newcastle United.”

It certainly would be a shock if Mike Ashley was to offer money to Dave King, with his knowledge of the Ibrox finances and business behaviour Warbo can forget about any windfall. After watching Sevco against Hearts last week Steve McLaren spoke enthusiastically about four Hearts players. Windass missed the game through injury.

The dire Ibrox finances will ensure that there is no January war-chest, any reasonable offer for players will be accepted, unreasonable offers will likely see the players go out on loan.

There is no real demand for any of the players, no one has improved under Warbo at Ibrox.

Martyn Waghorn and James Tavernier may attract deadline day offers from the top end of League One but it seems that just one more nasty legal bill or building repair could send the circus tent tumbling to earth with a fall out far more severe than the 2012 car crash.
