Chris Sutton has taken another pop at Robbie Savage following Celtic’s 1-1 draw with Manchester City.

The former hoops striker has been in incredible form this season as he enjoys the revival at his old club.

Savages English-centric views annoyed Celtic fans during Tuesday’s match as the Scottish champions again showed that they’re not afraid of reputations.

After the match Savage set up a twitter poll asking which of the three top English divisions followers felt Celtic could handle.

With West Brom, Stoke and Swansea regulars in the so-called greatest league in the world Celtic would handle the switch with ease and finish top half in the first season alone.

Sutton has played on both side’s of the border with his media work also letting him see what’s happening in Scotland and England.

One comment from Savage certainly struck a raw nerve with Sutton as he reflected on Celtic’s Champions League campaign in the Daily Record.

I had to laugh at my fellow pundit Robbie Savage saying Brown wouldn’t get a game for anyone in the Premier League,” Sutton stated. “Robbie’s talking absolute garbage.

Statistics can sometimes be misleading but to come out on top in the passing stakes does reveal he’s a player who can operate among the very best. Brown’s left an awful lot of critics with a ton of egg on their faces.

And aside from the battering by Barcelona and getting out-played by Monchengladbach at home – which can happen against top-class sides – there were plenty of positives but the club cannot relax.

There are still areas of the team that need improving if they want to keep progressing to comfortably make the group stages and be in with a shout of getting out of them.

Rodgers has put the foundations in place but you need to keep building if you want to reach for the stars.”
