Erik Sviatchenko missed Saturday’s thriller at Motherwell but enjoyed the drama and excitement to the full.

After 10 hours without conceding a goal the hoops lost two in 45 minutes to Louis Moult with their unbeaten record under serious threat.

Sviatchenko’s absence from the defence looked like being costly with Craig Gordon looking vulnerable and exposed.

Even after Callum McGregor and Patrick Roberts had equalised Celtic found themselves behind again when Lionel Ainsworth put Motherwell in front but fortunately Stuart Armstrong quickly equalised.

That would have been enough drama for most fans to cope with but there was another twist to come with Sviatchenko thrilled by Tom Rogic’s last gasp winner.

Despite missing Saturday’s match through illness Sviatchenko is expected to rejoin his team-mates for today’s trip to Manchester.

If fit the Dane will go straight into Brendan Rodgers side as Celtic look to complete their Champions League group in style with a win against City who have already qualified for the last 15 as runners up to Barcelona.
