Celtic have spoken out about claims that their fans caused damage at Ibrox.

After it was revealed that Celtic had withheld £40,000 of ticket money to cover repairs dating back to September the Daily Record carried a claim from the Ibrox club disputing the £40,000 figure and claiming that damage was done to the Broomloan Road stand.

Thirteen days after the match was played no evidence has been provided of any damage to the stadium, while that timespan may be fine to wait on an x-ray for a sore shoulder it seems very suspicious that no evidence has been provided of damage to the five star stadium.

Responding to that claim Celtic told Press Association Sport: “As far as we are concerned the matter regarding payment for the significant damage caused to Celtic Park has been resolved. We have not been informed of any major damage whatsoever caused at Ibrox stadium.”

Having had money withheld the Ibrox club can lodge a complaint to the SPFL and also take legal action to recover the £40,000 bill.

With a going concern warning in their annual accounts and two costly legal battles looming in March it’s unlikely that Sevco will take any action to reclaim the withheld ticket money.
