Neil Doncaster faces the humiliation of being recalled to the Scottish parliament to explain an apparent conflict in information given to a Holyrood committee.

On December 22 the SPFL chief executive told a committee that he was unaware of any clubs that failed to pay the national minimum wage.

Many teenagers are on £100/week deals at clubs with the Daily Record recently highlighting a number of clubs that are failing to pay the national rate.

According to the Record the SPFL had already discussed the issue and had taken legal soundings on the matter which suggested that zero hour contracts would be the best solution.

With Doncaster claiming to be unaware of contract details MSP James Dornan has asked for the SPFL chief to return to Holyrood to explain his previous answer.

The Record reports Dornan requesting the public petitions committee: “I would ask you to write to Mr Doncaster for clarification of these two instances of conflicting information and, if you deem it appropriate, to invite him back to the committee to give further evidence.”

Johann Lamont of the public petitions committee responded saying: “We would of course be concerned if any of the evidence we received was not accurate. The committee believes these issues deserve full scrutiny and clear action to address them.”

Doncaster is one of the signatories to the Five Way Agreement in 2012 that provided Sevco 5088 with a place in the Scottish Football League.
