As he settles into his hotel in Dubai Brendan Rodgers will be looking forward rather than back.

Less than a week after winning at Ibrox the Irishman will be looking through his squad highlighting areas of weakness and where he can strengthen his side for the challenges ahead.

He’s unlikely to indulge in talk of the treble or next season’s Champions League campaign but without doubt it’s in Europe that he’ll judge himself and his squad.

After 19 wins and 1 draw in the SPFL complacency is the only enemy on the home front with no sign of that creeping in with the attitude that he has brought to the club.

Change is inevitable in football as most of Neil Lennon’s favourites have discovered, new heroes are uncovered season by season with Rodgers having a very clear vision of where he wants to take Celtic.

By the close of the summer transfer window we’ll be very close to discovering who is in the Rodgers XI, for now supporters can look forward to more entertaining football and the realistic aim of capturing the elusive domestic treble.
