What next for Michael Duffy?

Players are often labelled forgotten men but it’s hard to come to any other conclusion when discussing Michael Duffy.

Two years ago he seemed to have the world at his feet when he joined Celtic from Derry City.

At 20-years-of-age he wasn’t about to step straight into Ronny Deila’s first team plans but switching from the League of Ireland to the highest level in Scotland was never going to be easy.

Initially played as a winger in the Development League he switched to playing through the middle and came up with a few goals as his half season ended.

Last season a loan deal with Alloa was agreed and while it provided regular first team football playing for a part-time side on artificial turf was less than ideal with the club ending the season relegated to League One.

From 31 league appearances Duffy scored three times with one of them spoiling the party as Sevco collected The Championship trophy.

After that experience a season long loan to Dundee seemed the perfect solution but after a bright start he dropped out of the side with just a solitary goal to show for 13 appearances.

With both parties cutting that loan deal short Duffy is back at Celtic looking for the next stage in his career as he attempts to fulfill the potential that had scouts flocking to watch him at Derry City.
