Kristoffer Ajer has spoken out about his loan move to Kilmarnock.

The 18-year-old has been converted from a midfielder to a central defender and will go to Rugby Park for the remainder of the season.

Ajer was the last signing of Ronny Deila but has still to make a competitive appearance for Celtic.

Speaking to Norwegian station TV2 he said: “Brendan Rodgers wanted me to be near Glasgow. It has gone very well in recent months, and now it’s been decided that I will play as a central defender.

Celtic will see me as a central defender, and they will see me in the Scottish league. Now it will be important for me to get playing time and experience as a central defender.”

Ajer had captained Norwegian side Start before he completed the move to Celtic.

Playing on the plastic surface at Kilmarnock shouldn’t be too difficult to cope with as those surfaces are commonplace across Norway.

During the first half of the season Ajer played in the UEFA Youth League and Challenge Cup as well as in the Development League.

Lee Clark has brought in three loan signings from Newcastle and was linked with Eoghan O’Connell before the Irishman moved to Walsall on loan.

Kilmarnock are currently third bottom of the SPFL, three points above Hamilton Accies and three behind sixth placed Ross County.
