Theo Archibald has joined Albion Rovers on loan until the end of the season.

The 18-year-old is in his second season playing in the Development League and will still be on call for Celtic who are also through to the last 16 of the SFA Youth Cup.

On the Rovers website manager Darren Young said: “Were delighted to welcome Theo to the club. He’s a great attacking talent who has a big future ahead of him. He has pace and will create chances and score goals. He will be a good addition to the squad and help push us on in the second half of the season.”

Archibald plays on the left hand side of midfield and achieved some fame last month with a spectacular goal against Manchester City in the UEFA Youth League.

In the first half of the season he was able to play in the Challenge Cup, UEFA Youth League and the Premier League International Cup.

That schedule has left Tommy McIntyre’s side with a fixture backlog having only played 12 matches in the Development League, five less than most of their opponents.

On Tuesday Celtic are due at Murray Park where Graham Murty’s Conveyor Belt kids are four points behind Celtic despite having played four matches more.

There was disappointment for Archibald today when Rovers match at Livingson was postponed, the loan bhoy won’t be able to play in next Sunday’s Scottish Cup tie against Celtic.
