Joe Thomson has still to sample a home match but three weeks into his switch to Queen of the South things could hardly be going any better for the midfielder.

After spending the first half of the season with part-time Dumbarton Thomson had his Development Loan switched to Queen of the South.

On his debut Thomson scored against St Mirren as Queens ended a 13 match run without a single win.

A week later the loan Celt was on the scoresheet in a 3-3 draw at Dundee United before returning to Dumbarton at the weekend and helping his new side to a 2-1 win.

Gary Naysmith’s faith in Thomson has been more than repaid with the 19-year-old delighted with the way that 2017 has kicked off.

Looking at his return to Dumbarton on Saturday Thomson told the Daily Record: “It was unusual. I’d never been in the away changing room before and was warming up on the other side of the pitch.

“I seen a few of the boys before the game and we wished each other good luck and that’s it. As soon you go on the park, it’s at the back of your mind.

“I was fully focused on the game and just wanted to get the win. We’ve had two wins and a draw since I came in and they are the sort of results we’ve been looking for.

“I’m training every day with Queens and it has been brilliant. There are different aspects of my game that I think I have improved.”

Queens are just three points behind Falkirk who are in the bottom play off place, on Saturday Thomson will get to discover Palmerston Park when Hibs are the visitors.
