Brendan Rodgers is confident that Kouassi Eboue can play in any midfield position.

The hoops boss is hopeful that the 19-year-old will soon get the green light to complete his £2.8m transfer from Krasnodar.

During the summer Rodgers was able to bring in five new faces with Moussa Dembele and Scott Sinclair transforming Celtic’s fortunes.

Window by window the team will evolve towards the manager’s way of thinking as he integrates new signings alongside the players that he has revived since taking over from Ronny Deila.

Asked about Eboue’s position Rodgers told the Gulf News: “He can play in a number of those positions in midfield but predominantly he offers protection to the back four.

He plays with intensity. He’s aggressive, he presses the game well, he has good tactical understanding of the game for a young player and he is technically very strong and he has big potential to improve.”

Eboue sounds very much like Stuart Armstrong which should lead to some interesting selections with Scott Brown also competing for one of two places in the team.

Yesterday Armstrong was announced as Ladbrokes December Player of the Month having been overlooked for the November award.

With 18 months left on his current deal talks about a new contract for the former Dundee United man are expected to start soon.
