Albion Rovers are believed to have enquired about taking Theo Archibald on loan to Cliftonhill.

According to a report in the Daily Record Darren Young is keen to get the 18-year-old involved in their League One campaign.

Archibald, who plays wide on the left, is in his second season playing in the Development League after being part of the u-17 side that won the 2015 Glasgow Cup by beating Sevco 2-0 at Hampden.

A regular run of first team football experiencing the rough and tumble of life in one of the lower leagues is likely to accelerate his development.

In the first half of the season Archibald was able to play in the u-19 UEFA Youth League, the SFA Challenge Cup and also the u-23 Premier League International Cup.

Archibald will still be able to play for Celtic in the Development League and SFA Youth Cup but if the loan goes through he’ll mainly be playing for Rovers in League One.

Rovers, who play Celtic nextx Sunday in the Scottish Cup, are sitting in fourth place in League One, four points adrift of Brechin who are sitting in the final play off place.
