In November 2012 it housed the great and the good of Scottish football as the 125th anniversary of the founding of Celtic was celebrated at St Mary’s in the Calton.

Sadly at the turn of the year the chapel was vandalised leaving the parish with a £4,000 shortfall to repair the damage.

With it’s historic place in the folklore of the football club a Go Fund Me page has been set up to raise funds towards repairs.

Celtic’s worldwide supporter base looks set to contribute towards the repairs and sadly to increasing security to prevent a repeat.

Within a couple of hours of opening up the fund money started to pour in with the Celtic support famous for it’s backing of good causes.

It doesn’t have the political edge of raising money for Palestine but if charity does begin at home then there’s little doubt that Celtic’s spiritual home is sitting on Abercrombie Street, G40.
