Stefan Johansen scored his seventh goal of the season last night as Fulham won 2-0 away to Burton Albion.

The former Celtic midfielder took his time to find his feet at Craven Cottage but is now playing a key role as Slavisa Jokanovic’s side put together a run towards winning a play off spot.

While Fulham fans look on enviously at the form and value of Moussa Dembele the £2m paid for Johansen is looking like money well spent.

Since December Johansen has scored six goals recapturing the form that he showed two seasons ago under Ronny Deila.

Speaking at Christmas time Jokanovic said: “He’s a great example to all the players. His first games were very complicated for him. He showed his ambition and desire and went from not being an important player at the beginning of the season to being our best player in the past month.

“Stefan is playing at a very high level and has shown that in recent games. We believe he can maintain then level and get even better.’’

After last night’s win at Burton Fulham are just three points behind sixth placed Derby County who are in the fourth play-off place.

Following Saturday’s trip to Birmingham City they have home matches against Wigan and Nottingham Forest who are both scrapping against relegation followed by a visit from Spurs in the sixth round of the FA Cup.
