After failing to sign Moussa Dembele on Tuesday Chelsea will go the extra mile in the summer by teaming the striker up with Virgil van Dijk!

According to reports in The Sun and The Daily Mail Antonio Conte is planning a £100m summer spending spree that looks more like a Celtic Fantasy Football XI.

Conte’s side are well on course to win the Premier League with their opponents falling to pieces as the Italian puts his stamp on the side after Jose Mourinho’s disastrous season last term.

Chelsea’s interest in Dembele surfaced via Sky Sports news on Monday afternoon with Celtic quickly kicking it into touch.

If a £40m bid is made in June it’ll be harder for Celtic to resist although it’s no certainty that Dembele will feel ready to step into the Chelsea squad.

Although the wages associated with a £40m signing will be mouth watering the Frenchman and his agents have always insisted that career development is more important than money at this stage.

At the other end of the park Southampton are bracing themselves for massive interest in van Dijk which is likely to take the bidding over £60m.

With Celtic due to pick up 10% of that transfer fee the hoops could end up with the thick end of £50m from Chelsea’s summer spending spree.
