The Daily Record has performed an incredible u-turn with former Sevco chief executive Derek Llambias.

Two years ago Llambias went to the unbelievable step of banning the Record as their bid to sweep Dave King up the marble staircase cranked into overdrive.

On a daily basis Llambias and Mike Ashley were trashed as they attempted to bring some business sense to the loss making company. Ashley even loaned the club five players, including Haris Vuckic, for just £1,000/week.

King’s promises including a personal investment of £50m was exactly what Record readers wanted to hear with no one prepared to look at the business career and finances of the South African based crook.

Llambias gave one interview in the lead up to the much celebrated AGM which swept Mr King to power and said: ‘Ask him where the money is?’.

That question was ignored as King promised a return to the glory days of Dave Murray when budgeting, accounts and paying tax was put on the back burner in order to beat Celtic.

Two years later Celtic are 30 points ahead of Sevco with not a penny invested in the company with King’s toxic name making the company untouchable for investors.

In a brief interview with Sky Sports the Record reports Llambias asking: “Last time I spoke to you guys when we were voted off I asked ‘where was the money? where was the cash?’.

There was no money, there was no nomad, there’s no listing and we’re two years on and it’s exactly the same. Where is the money?

To be honest with you, the club has got great history, wonderful traditions and they just need somebody with a lot of money behind it who are going to produce the goods.”

As well as having no cash the club from Ibrox face Ashley in court next month over the Rangers Retail deal.

Under King the club has refused to co-operate with Sports Direct and Puma in direct contravention of the RR deal.

With Mark Warburton’s management team about to put in a claim for £2m in compensation the current Ibrox board may be about to feel the wrath of the people over their broken promises.

From his base in South Africa King is unlikely to be bothered but Paul Murray, John Gilligan and Douglas Park will have to deal with the anger on a daily basis, maybe even from Murray’s favourite newspaper.

After two years of hostility it’s highly unlikely that Ashley will be prepared to resurect his interest in the company.
