Craig Gordon will sign a new Celtic deal this week.

According to a report in The Sun the keeper will sign a three year deal this week killing off speculation that he could sign for Chelsea in the summer.

Gordon signed for Celtic in July 2014 after two years out of football and signed a further contract 12 months later.

Chelsea made two offers to sign the 34-year-old during the January transfer window as they looked for cover to allow them to sell Asmir Begovic to Bournemouth.

Brendan Rodgers refused to entertain either offer and insisted that the keeper would stay on at Celtic and get an improved longer term contract.

Now after four weeks of negotiations it is claimed that verbal deals have been agreed with the new contract to be signed this week.

Rodgers dropped Gordon earlier this season for Dorus de Vries but brought the former Sunderland keeper back for the Champions League match against Manchester City and has been unstinting in his praise for the way Gordon has altered his game to meet the demands of his new manager.
