Neil Lennon has described the gab between Celtic and Sevco as a chasm.

Five years ago the Irishman clawed back a 15 point gap on Rangers (IL) to deliver the title as the Ibrox club plunged into administration followed by the despair of liquidations.

After completing their journey to the top flight Sevco find themselves 30 points behind the hoops and in total disarray following the departure of former city trader Mark Warburton.

After boasting of winning the title this season the tribute act find themselves fighting to hold onto third place as their season descends into farce.

Across the city Celtic go from strength to strength as Brendan Rodgers sends his side out chasing records.

Speaking to Jim White on talkSPORT The Sun reports Lennon saying: “It’s a chasm, an absolute chasm.

I thought Mark Warburton did a really, really well, I was sorry to see him go.

I think Rangers beating Celtic in the [Scottish Cup] semi-final, I think people behind the scenes at Celtic went ‘right we’ve maybe taken our foot off the pedal here’.

They’ve brought Brendan in, he’s totally reinvigorated the place again. He’s brought in some class players and he’s done a remarkable job.”

With Hibs facing Ayr United for a place in the semi-final of the Scottish Cup Lennon could be just 90 minutes away from facing either Glasgow club as manager of Hibs.

In the Championship Hibs are seven points clear of Dundee United and look certain to end their three year exile from the top flight.
