Battered Graeme Murty praised Sevco’s WARM UP after watching his side lose 2-1 to Inverness Caley Thistle.

The stand-in Ibrox boss cut a pathetic figure after the match as he tried to remember some excuses in front of the BT Sport cameras.

Mark Warburton took a panning when he quoted corner statistics to justify a 1-1 draw at home to Ross County but Murty took things further when he praised the warm up as his side battles grimly to hold on to third place.

I couldn’t ask the players to apply themselves any more,” he told BT Sport. “The way that they started, the tempo that they played at, the things that they tried to do with the football were great.

If you look at the way they approached the game today, the players have talent it’s just a case of when they walk across the white line their minds are focused on the game. I thought that they were incredibly focused on the game today.

I could see it in their warm up, the warm up was better than last week, the start of the game was better than last week and it’s just about in those penalty boxes.”

Murty looked afraid pre-match and uncomfortable throughout the ninety minutes as he tried to disappear inside an oversized Sports Direct jacket.

Amazingly he now has a much worse record than Warbo who managed to win at Dundee and Inverness earlier in the season.

A win for Celtic at home to Hamilton would put the hoops 33 points ahead of Sevco with 12 matches left to play in the SPFL with the clock racing towards the March 12 Glasgow derby.
