Murty’s feeble warning

Fall guy Graeme Murty has warned Mark Warburton’s Ibrox flops that they are playing for their future- despite every player under 36 being under contract next season!

Murty looked like a rabbit in headlights yesterday as he faced the media with the added embarrassment of having to explain his own touchline gymnastics.

Among the many problems that the new management team must tackle is the fact that almost all of the current first team squad are contracted for at least another year.

Kenny Miller, Clint Hill and Pip Senderos are out of contract in the summer but whoever takes over from Mark Warburton will need to get the best out of Andy Halliday, Rob Kiernan, Joe Garner, Jason Holt and other flops that have fallen 30 points behind Celtic.

Clearly struggling to put a positive spin on recent events Murts explained to The Sun: “I’ve told them the new manager is watching, simple as that. I can’t make it any clearer to them.

I’ve said to them, whoever it may be, the new manager is watching and they are forming an opinion of you as players and people — so you want to put yourself in the very best light that you can.

They’ve got it in their heads — they know they’re playing for their futures. They’ve been told, not just by me and not in a bad way, but they’ve told themselves in the group chat that they’re playing not only for themselves but each other and the club.”

Tomorrow night Murty faces another trial by television as he takes Sevco to Inverness to face a side that took a point off Hearts at Tynecastle at the weekend.

A repeat of the failure at Dundee could end in Murty being jettisoned with fear gripping Ibrox as they count the days down to visiting Celtic on March 12.
