Leigh Griffiths is hoping that he has done enough to convince Brendan Rodgers that he is worth a run in the team.

Tom Rogic’s injury has disrupted the way that Celtic play with the Australian the ideal attacking midfield option.

Rodgers explained at the start of the season that he wasn’t set in his ways and that the 4-2-3-1 formation was used to make best use of the players he has available.

Although it was only against Championship opposition Griffiths made a big impact in the Scottish Cup tie against St Mirren and looked lively as a substitute against Sevco.

With Griffiths there seems to be off the pitch issues to consider as well but if his head is in the right place the 26-year-old is hoping that he can get back involved.

I just want to play as often as I can,” Griffiths told the Evening Times. “It has been frustrating all season. I want to make a difference, I feel that I can make a difference, whether that be coming off the bench or starting games.

It is all about getting a wee run. I have come off the bench over the last two weeks and hopefully I am still in the manager’s plans and thoughts next weekend.”

Despite his injuries and the arrival of Moussa Dembele Griffiths has managed to score 14 goals this season.
