Brendan Rodgers has invited Jason Cundy to Celtic Park.

The arrogant talkSPORT host became a figure of fun on Wednesday night when he tried to belittle Celtic’s success and the size of the club.

Rodgers knows Cundy well from his time at Chelsea where he started his career and still does media work for the club outlets.

After having his arguments demolished by a caller the talkSPORT presenter started to slag off life in the west of Scotland and the size of Celtic’s twitter following.

Rodgers is a regular guest on a couple of talkSPORT shows and didn’t hold back when he was asked his views on Cundy at his pre-match media conference.

I know Jason, I worked with him at Chelsea so I know what he is like,” the Celtic boss explained in The Sun. “He obviously has to create a programme which stimulates conversation.

It is ignorance really, with all due respect. It’s a lack of knowledge of football. The footballing world is more than the Premier League.

We all want to see and we all love the Premier League and I was involved in it and it is a fantastic league but football is global and of course a club like Celtic is one of the biggest in the world but if your eyes are only on one league then of course you tend to ignore what is happening around that.

He is a good boy Jason, I know him well but I probably understand what he is trying to do with his comments. He will always be welcome to Celtic Park and he would be surprised I am sure.”

As a player Cundy turned out for Spurs, Chelsea and Ipswich without getting close to winning a league title.

Celtic are seven points away from winning their sixth successive title and are have won all but one of their domestic matches this season.
