Matt O’Riley is reported to be high on Leicester City’s transfer list.

Celtic paid MK Dons £1.5m for the midfielder in January with that move justified as O’Riley played a huge role in Celtic’s title success.

Leicester have yet to sign anyone during the transfer window with Brendan Rodgers attempting to dampen down expectations ahead of the new season.

O’Riley took a step backwards to leave Fulham for MK Dons for first team football and has a very clear plan to take his game to the highest level for club and country.

Picking up on a report from the Telegraph, Leicester Mercury report:

Celtic midfielder Matt O’Riley is reportedly “high” on the transfer wish list at Leicester City.

The 21-year-old joined Celtic in January this year in a £1.5 million move from MK Dons, where he spent 18 months playing in League One following his release by Fulham.

He is now said to be on Leicester’s radar, with Chelsea defender Levi Colwill and PSV winger Noni Madueke also high on City’s list of targets.

The Telegraph report: “Chelsea’s highly-regarded defender Levi Colwill, PSV Eindhoven winger Noni Madueke and Celtic midfielder Matt O’Riley are high on Leicester’s list but everything is on hold at this stage.”

There is little doubt that O’Riley will one day play in the EPL but it is unlikely that the player or Celtic would encourage a move on the eve of a new season.

With the Champions League coming up in September and a place in the Danish World Cup squad to aim for the former England youth internationalist looks likely to spend at least another season in the SPFL.

It would take a blockbuster offer to shift such a talented player on the eve of a new season. Huns with keyboards can now speculate on the prospective £zillions.

The day after his best mate signs for the club after he had been in his ear all season to join… And he ups and leaves for Leicester?
Do they think we button up the back like the Sevco fans??
