Craig Moore has admitted that he tried to send Aaron Mooy to Ibrox.

Earlier this week the midfielder joined Celtic with Transfermarkt listing the Stellar Group as his agent.

Moore is an ambassador for World Soccer Partners but told Go Radio of how he tried to send the Australian internationalist to the other side of the city.

Picking up on Moore’s radio appearance, the Daily Record reports:

I will be honest, he is one I tried to push to Rangers first. With the quality of the player (it made sense), but with the position that are being filled at Rangers and he is slightly older, maybe it didn’t make a lot of sense. For Celtic it does. He is a player who Ange knows the player extremely well, and he is a good addition.

Mooy hasn’t played club football since January but was involved in Australia’s victories over UAE and Peru at the start of June to take the Socceroos through to the World Cup Finals in Qatar.

Ange Postecoglou will get a chance to assess the midfielder’s match fitness in tomorrow’s friendly match against Norwich City.

After that Celtic only have weekend competitive matches through August but midweek friendlies could be set up with Carl Starfelt also expected to be in need of game time after missing out on the five pre-season matches to date.
