Deja-vu for under fire Paul le Guen

|

Cameroon boss Paul le Guen has been openly criticised over his team selection by midfielder Achille Emana ahead of tonight’s World Cup clash with Denmark.

The former Rangers manager controversially left out star midfielders Rigobert and Alexandre Song from the defeat by Japan to the surprise of the Cameroon squad.

Le Guen’s spell in charge of Rangers came to a halt in almost identical circumstances when he dropped Barry Ferguson and passed the club captaincy to Gavin Rae.

Two weeks later le Guen left Ibrox with Walter Smith restoring Ferguson as captain.

A defeat to Denmark tonight will end Cameroon’s World Cup hopes with le Guen failing to explain his decision to drop the Song’s after the defeat to Japan.

Emana said: “Many young fresh players have been introduced into the team at the expense of experienced ones.

They cannot withstand the sort of pressure that comes with playing in big tournaments. That is why we are appealing to the coach to review the team for the Denmark game.”

Midfielder Landry N’Guemo is in the Cameroon squad but it’s unlikely that he will be returning to Celtic next season.

Nancy are looking for a fee in the region of £1.8m for the midielder with Celtic unwilling to pay anything over £1.2m to make the deal permanent.

Nicholas Holvech, Sporting Director of Nancy said: “We spoke to Celtic at the start of the week regarding N’Guemo and following the discussion I now believe that he won’t be joining them next season.

“There is quite a difference in opinion over our valuation of the player and theirs and because there is other interest from England I would expect him to move elsewhere

“We have now been in discussions with English sides regarding Landry for more than a week now, but there is no panic over his sale.”

I’d love to know the selection process for coming up with PLG.
