Rod Stewart’s Tommy Burns tribute (video)

|

Celebrity Celt Rod Stewart last night paid a special tribute to the late Tommy Burns at his sell-out concert at the SECC.

Stewart helped open the North Stand at Celtic Park 15 years ago when Burns was in charge of Celtic and has never been slow to show his feelings for the club.

From Kenny Dalglish to Henrik Larsson the singer has mixed with all the great Celts and has been spotted at European outposts like Aalborg and Vienna over the last two seasons.

Stewart famously mentions Celtic and United (Manchester) in his 70s hit ‘You’re in my Heart’ which always gets special treatment wherever in the world that he is performing.

With the audience singing out of the palm of his hand at the SECC last night there was a predictable roar when he reached the Celtic line in the song.

Then as the song came to a halt two giant pictures of Burns in his playing prime appeared on the screen either side of a Celtic crest to an even greater roar.
