Scoop of scoops as The Lost Bhoys interview Henrik Larsson

|

After the misery of last night in Utrecht it’s not easy to find something to brighten the mood.

On the tenth anniversary of the 6-2 win over Rangers the fast moving Lost Bhoys website have come up with a great tonic in a 40 minute interview with Henrik Larsson in Sweden linking up with Chris in Houston and Gerry in Calgary .

Our hero gets quite relaxed and chatty during the interview but keeps his guard up at various times, refusing to discuss what offers he received during his seven years with Celtic.

There are a few jokes from Larsson and the admission that Paul Lambert was the better snooker player.

Every issue is covered from his arrival in July 1997 to his departure before the inevitable scoring return with Barcelona in the Champions League.

Unlike most supporters that were in Seville Larsson revealed that he watched a video of the Porto match earlier this year- seven years on the memories are too bitter-sweet for most fans to endure a re-run.

Larsson did half jokingly say that he wouldn’t have joined Celtic if he had realised the pressure that was on at the club in his first season to stop ten in a row.

Discussing that season he felt that the influx of new players was a key element in winning the title unburdened by the pressures that had been brewing over the previous decade.

Dr Jo Venglos and John Barnes are given sympathetic coverage before the arrival and transformation of Martin O’Neill is covered in detail with the pivotal 6-2 game well documented.

There are plenty of candid comments and a real warmth and enthusiasm from Larsson as he joins in the chat, discussing his own career and the move into management without having taken any formal coaching qualifications.

Predictably he admits to being in regular contact with Johan Mjallby, Chris Sutton and Alan Thompson as the Seville side make the transformation into management.

It’s a great listen, Larsson opens up a good deal more than he has previously, to give the supporter an insight into the key player in a never to be forgotten era for the club.

“I’m a Celtic man, without a doubt,” Larsson summarised.
