Young hoops geared up for Hearts test

|

Celtic’s u-19 side are raring to go for Saturday’s top-of-the-table clash with Hearts at Riccarton, kick-off 11am.

Technically Motherwell are above both sides having played a game more but with both Celtic and Hearts sitting on six points out of six and sharing a goal difference of plus 11 Saturday’s match promises to be a cracker.

Coach Stevie Frail said: “We’ve had a good week’s training working on a lot of aspects of the game. We work the boys hard in every aspect of the game from physical to tactical to develop them.

“A couple of them played in the reserve match against Morton in midweek, Callum Bagshaw scored a great goal and Filip Twardzik also scored.

“It’s an important match for us against Hearts and one that we’re looking forward to. We won 2-0 against them towards the end of last season with a young team but we can’t read too much into that.

“Hearts are a good team, we’re expecting a tough match but we’ve started the season well and are looking to continue that.”

The game will be played at Hearts Riccarton Training Centre which is an easy stop off for any Edinburgh based Celtic supporters travelling west for the first team match.

Frail added: “It’s always good to see supporters along at our matches and it gives everyone a lift.

“The most important thing is that the fans travel through to watch the first team but if any of them want to take in our match we’ll be delighted to see them.”
