Alan Thompson’s winning feeling

|

Alan Thompson wants the new look Celtic side to develop that winning feeling.

Any type of win against Hearts will suit the Celtic coach after a fortnight’s break for international football.

Twelve months ago Celtic drew their fourth SPL game of the season at home to Dundee United with Tony Mowbray’s side unable to record four league wins on the bounce.

Full points against Hearts will extend Neil Lennon’s 100% SPL record to 12 matches with Thompson desperate for the current side to keep on winning.

“Every weekend we’re looking to get the job done,” Thompson told Channel 67. “A performance on top of a 1-0 win would be great.

“I’ll take a scrappy 1-0 win every day of the week. We know that Hearts will give it 100% endeavour and commitment, we’ll have to match that and hopefully our quality will come through in the end.

“As a player I enjoyed our games against Hearts. You look forward to every match but it’s good for us to have a Saturday game at Celtic Park, we’re looking forward to that and hopefully a decent result.

“The place has been lively and bubbly, everyone is upbeat and settling in. We want to give them a bright environment to come into and that applies to everyone throughout the club.

“As a coach you try to help new players settle, you want them to feel that they’ve been here for a long time because it can be difficult settling into a new environment.”

A winning run is usually the best way for new players to settle into life at a new club with Celtic enjoying a 100% domestic record so far.

The Celtic squad will return from all parts of the world tomorrow with Neil Lennon not being able to assess his players properly until Thursday.
