Evander Sno has returned to Ajax nine days after suffering a heart attack during a reserve game against Vitesse Arnhem.

The former Celtic midfielder met with manager Martin Jol and was interviewed for the Ajax website.

Sno was rushed to hospital after collapsing and received life saving treatment on the pitch from the Ajax medical team.

Ajax coach Albert van der Dussen admitted: “Fortunately our doctor and physio were there quickly and they performed a heroic act that saved Evander’s life.

“They gave him the defibrillator three times when we feared for his life. He was very lucky.

“He looked surprised to see so many people standing round him. I don’t think Evander realised what was going on but everyone was greatly relieved when it was all over.

“The ambulance crew then took over and took him to hospital.”

Sporting a ‘WIN OR LOSE- ON THE BOOZE’ T-shirt the laid back midfielder was greeted warmly by his team-mates who won 2-1 at the weekend away to rivals Feyenoord.

Sno has undergone  several scans since collapsing to find the cause of his heart problems, but no direct cause for the heart attack has been found.

An internal cardiac defibrillator has been put inside his body as a precautionary measure. The device continuously monitors his heart rhythm.

Sno is expected to resume training next week but no date has been set for his return to action.
