James Forrest delight at award

|

Modest James Forrest was delighted to pick up the Clydesdale Bank Young Player of the Month award for August.

Forrest featured in all of Celtic’s SPL fixtures during the month and was called into the Scotland u-21 squad for the first time.

Speaking to Channel 67 he said: “I’ve had a great start to the season, played in a good number of matches and I hope that it continues.

“I never expected to play in so many games but I had a good pre-season and I felt that if I achieved that the manager would have faith to pick me because he knew me from last season’s reserve squad.

“The recognition is great, I want it to continue but I’m keeping my feet on the ground. My parents make sure of that and we know that things can change from week to week in football.

“We’ve had a good start to the season, I’ve started three games and hopefully if we keep winning I can stay in the team.  I really feel part of the squad, the trip to American helped me a lot, we all got to see a lot of each other and that was great.”

Saturday’s u-19 Celtic-Rangers fixture has been postponed.
