Neil Lennon's song and dance demand of new bhoys

|

Neil Lennon has revealed how Cha Du-Ri and Daryl Murphy put fellow new bhoy Gary Hooper to shame.

With eleven new faces arriving during the transfer window the Celtic boss is anxious to get his new side bonded without the traditional excesses of alcohol often preferred by old school managers.

After persuading his transfer targets to sign the dotted line Lennon insists that the new bhoys introduce themselves to their new team mates cabaret style.

Lennon told Channel 67: “During pre-season the new players had to come in and sing a song or tell a joke to integrate them into the squad.

“You get to see a little bit of their personality. A few of them have gone a bit shy but in the main it’s been good fun.

“Cha did a South Korean rap which was very interesting but Daryl Murphy did a rendition of a Boyzone song which was very impressive. It was quite moving- I got up and moved away.

“Gary Hooper wouldn’t sing, he just told an unbelievably bad joke, he’d come into the worst category.”

Despite a 13 day break between beating Motherwell and facing Hearts on Saturday Lennon has seen very little of his squad due to international commitments.

A core of less than a dozen first team players have been left to train at Lennoxtown with the internationalists returning today for the management to work with.

“We need to assess the players,” Lennon added. “They’ve been away for a while and a lot of them have played twice for their country since we last saw them.

“Sammy has come back a bit sore from his exertions with Greece but everyone is fully fit except Andreas Hinkel. Gary Hooper, Charlie Mulgrew and Thomas Rogne played in a bounce game.

“In terms of getting players upto fitness the break has been good but in terms of trying to get a shape or pattern for the Hearts game it’s been practically impossible.

“Everyone is itching to get back involved in the domestic scene and we’ll try to pick up where we left off and get a positive result against Hearts.”
