Hit man Keatings

James Keatings fired in a hat-trick last night as Scotland’s u-19 side hammered Lichtenstein 7-0.

In four competitive matches this season Keatings has scored 10 goals! Fellow Celts Kieran Brennan and Callum McGregor were also amongst the scorers.

Last season Keatings was played on the left flank or in midfield but hasn’t stopped scoring since being played as a striker.

On the opening day of the season he scored 5 times against in the 8-0 win over Hamilton Accies and was also on target in the wins over St Johnstone and Hearts.

Tonight’s goals were scored in the 42nd, 55th and 67th minutes before being substituted five minutes after completing his hat-trick.

On Thursday Scotland will face hosts Estonia before completing the group with a match against Norway on Sunday.

The top two teams from the group will qualify for the elite qualifying stage which will be held in March.

Last week at u-17 level there was a clean sweep of Celtic scorers as Joe Chalmers, Marcus Fraser and John Heron helped Scotland to a 1-0 win over Luxemburg and 2-1 victory over Macedonia.

In the final group match Scotland drew 0-0 with Switzerland with James Witeman, Islam Feruz and Lewis Kidd from the Celtic Academy all taking part.
