Celtic hit back at Dundee United events

|

Celtic have demanded answers from the SFA about the actions of Dougie McDonald AND the follow up comments of Hugh Dallas.

In The Sun this morning the newspaper claims a letter has been sent to the SFA explaining Celtic’s unhappiness about the events at Tannadice and Dallas’ charm offensive.

New SFA Chief Stewart Regan will have to deal with the matter and confront Dallas for a personal explanation of the incident and subsequent comments.

As well as the seeking an explanation as to why McDonald reversed his decision to award Celtic a penalty when Gary Hooper was fouled by Dusan Pernis it’s believed that Celtic are furious with the spin that Dallas has applied to the incident.

After praising McDonald for changing his mind based on the view of someone possibly three times the distance away from the incident Dallas’ interpretation of what went on afterwards is highly questionable.

Speaking to the BBC Smug Shug claimed: “Neil took the time to go to the referee’s dressing-room about 40 minutes after the match was concluded.

“They had a discussion and Neil accepted that the decision was correct.”

I’d be amazed if that was Lennon’s interpretation of the conversation- getting an opinion from someone that wasn’t present is clearly causing some concern at Celtic.

Despite having the medium of the SFA website to explain the decision Dallas has refused to discuss why assistant Steven Craven didn’t raise his flag at the penalty incident to indicate a different viewpoint.

Craven ran to the corner flag appearing to agree with the decision then positioned himself on the goal-line in anticipation of a penalty before McDonald decided to speak to him.

Dallas’ interpretation of events, having admitted that he hadn’t watched the whole game, has given players everywhere the right to harass referee’s to consult with their assistant’s for a second opinion on any decision.

Tonight in Holland McDonald will be in charge of the Alkmaar-Dynamo Kiev assisted by four of the SFA’s finest.

How can you ask for the 2 main signings who have made an impact and then limit the choice to one when submitting.

Joe, it’s now clear that not only does the management team at Celtic read your Forum…..
they act on it as well.
Only yesterday I insisted that they follow up the McDonald debacle and demand answers…and..hey presto….
Hope they nail Dallas to the wall as well…..
Keep up the good work Joe…..
We’ll keep Wee Fergus in reserve ..for now.

The players from Hibs forced the ref to consult his linesman. While the linesman couldn’t possibly disagree it was a penalty, it did give McDonald an “out” and the opportunity to make another “honest” mistake.

What makes this more glaring is that a good and well respected former ref from the EPL highlighted the ludicrous fiasco as terrible decision making from a ref. Even Mr. Poll said it was a blatant penalty where the ref crumbled to player power.

McDonald lying to say the linesman had a better view is insulting to all fans who saw what really happened. As for Dallas, once again he is a man with too much power. He was always a Rangers favourite for good reason.
His track record proves it. The goings on at the SFA and in the SPL is what is killing the Scottish game, not bad teams!

JoeG you hit the nail right on the head Dallas is the main problem. Why didn’t he comment on the other 3 penalty incidents on radio Clyde because he couldn’t he only seen 5 minuets of the game but was still able to give his full backing to McDonald.
