Celtic youths hit Kilmarnock for 8!

|

Celtic’s youth side showed no mercy on Kilmarnock by demolishing the Rugby Park kids 8-0 today at the Barrowfield.

Top scorer James Keatings notched four of the goals to take his tally for the season to 11 from four matches. The Twardzik twins, Patrik and Filip also got on the scoresheet with Paul George matching Niall McGinn’s efforts for the first team with a double.

Celtic led 1-0 at half time then went 2-0 up early in the second half after Killie had been reduced to ten men.

The visitors had another player sent off when they conceded a penalty which Keatings converted before the roof fell in on Kilmarnock with the young hoops piling in a further five goals to record their second 8-0 win of the season.

“It was a great professional performance,” said Stevie Frail afterwards. “Sometimes teams can make it difficult if they have someone sent off but we stuck to our passing game and converted our chances.

“The boys deserve a lot of credit. They’ve not had many games recently but were sharp throughout and deserved the result.

“We’ve now had five clean sheets in a row and that’s something else that I’m happy with.”
