Darren O'Dea out for six weeks after knee operation

Darren O’Dea is expected to be out of action for six weeks after undergoing knee surgery in London.

The defender is currently on loan at Ipswich but sustained the injury while on international duty with the Republic of Ireland last month.

O’Dea continued to train and play for Ipswich but was forced to miss the recent home win over Leeds game after aggravating the injury in the warm up.

“Darren saw a specialist and had the operation last week,” Roy Keane told the Ipswich website.

“It’s obviously disappointing to lose him. Hopefully he will be back in about six weeks.”

O’Dea has played seven times since moving on loan to Ipswich and has helped take the Tractor Boys into fifth place in The Championship.
