James Keatings goal not enough for Scotland

Scotland’s u-19 side lost 4-2 to Norway in Estonia tonight with James Keatings again on the scoresheet.

***See correction below****************************Despite the defeat Scotland qualify for the next stage as hosts Estonia were only able to beat Liechtenstein 3-0.

Scotland, Norway and Estonia all finished with six points but the Estonians missed out on qualifying with a goal difference of four against Scotland’s six and Norway’s five.

Keatings took his tally for the tournament to four from three games when he equalised an early strike for the Norwegians in the 25th minute.

Norway took the lead again in the 48th minute but Dylan McGeogh equalised in the 55th minute but two goals in the last 15 minutes sent Billy Stark’s side to defeat.

Kieran Brennan and Callum McGregor were also in the Scotland side and are bound to return to Celtic in good spirits.

*************************Correction.

Scotland miss out on qualification……….. for now. The results between the teams level on points is compared and Scotland fall into third place despite having an overall goal difference to Norway and Estonia.

Two third placed teams from the 13 qualifying groups will qualify, with a victory over the group winners, Estonia, Scotland should be in with a good chance of qualifying.
