Mark Wilson set to face Rangers

|

Mark Wilson is set to play from the start against Rangers on Sunday.

The full-back started his first SPL game of the season at Dundee United and turned in an impressive performance assisting in both goals.

Wilson started his career alongside Neil Lennon after signing from Dundee United in a £100,000 deal in January 2006.

Cha Du Ri has been the regular right-back this season but the Korean is likely to be on the bench against Rangers after Wilson’s display against Dundee United.

Injuries have restricted the former Scotland u-21 skipper to less than 100 hoops appearances but on Sunday he looks certain to start the crunch fixture with Rangers.

“I didn’t envisage him playing as well as that,” Neil Lennon told the Celtic View looking back at the win over Dundee United. “I know Mark very well from my time here- I’ve played with him, coached him and know what he can do.

“He is a fantastic professional, solid as a rock and whenever he’s played for me he’s been excellent.

“The Dundee United match was as good as he’s played in his time here and he should be pleased with himself.

“He’s only 26 so hopefully if he can get a good run and stay injury free we’ll have a very good player.”

Gary Hooper was on the end of Wilson’s assists and is looking forward to Sunday’s clash with Rangers buoyed by the confidence of scoring twice against Dundee United.

The former Scunthorpe striker said: “I have been told to just take it all in and get on with it because it’s something that I’ll never experience again.

“It’s going to be a tough game with both teams unbeaten but we just have to play our normal game and we will be all right.

“It’s going to be an unbelievable atmosphere, I’ve seen it on TV but have never been on the pitch or in the crowd so it’s an experience that I’m really looking forward to.”
