Youth coach Tommy McIntyre declared himself satisfied with Celtic’s 2-0 Glasgow Cup win over Clyde at wet and windy Broadwood.
McIntyre finished his playing career at that stadium playing for Airdrie and knows first hand just how exposed Broadwood can get on a winter’s night.
An own goal and first half solo effort from Islam Feruz maintained Celtic’s 100% record in the Glasgow Cup without hitting the highs that they showed in the previous game against Rangers.
McIntyre said: “There was torrential rain throughout the game and at one stage I wondered if the game would have started.
“Fortunately it did but it was difficult conditions for both teams to play in. We felt that we could have played better but at this level you aren’t always going to get consistent performances.
“The players tried hard but a lot of things never came off, that’s youth football but the good thing is that the players are hard on themselves and demand certain standards.
“They know that they can play a lot better. If they thought that they had played well it would be something to worry about.
“We don’t set standards that aren’t achievable, the players have shown on numerous occasions what they can do and they are a wee bit aggrieved that they never performed as they can.”
