Craig Thomson 'It will be difficult to continue without Dallas'

Craig Thomson backs Dallas

We'll support Hugh

Craig Thomson has spoken out in support of disgraced Hugh Dallas.

The Head of Refereeing at the SFA was sacked on Friday almost three weeks after news emerged that he had sent an offensive email about the pope.

Like most so-called top referees Thomson owes his position to Dallas rather than his own ability and is clearly fearful that a new boss will bring some accountability to refereeing.

Thomson, clearly out of touch with the real world believes that the sacking of Dallas is over the top and claims that the dismissal of the bigot from Bonkle will make it ‘difficult to continue’.

Speaking to The News of the World Thomson said: “I see Hugh as a world-class individual within Scottish football. There are not many within our game who have been at the World Cup Finals.

“The coaching experience he can pass on to referees is immeasurable, particularly to guys involved in European games.

“There is a lot of work behind the scenes that I’m hoping won’t be lost. On a day-to-day basis it will be difficult to continue.

“It’s a low day for us. Whether we agree with the punishment or not is another issue.”

On the reason for Dallas getting his P45 he added: “We think it is way over the top.

“To have a World Cup finalist in our midst and for some reason to get rid of him is detrimental to referees.”

Retaining a bigot who thinks that child abuse is humorous is much more detrimental and could result in sponsors withdrawing from the SFA.

Perhaps Thomson may have sympathy for a bigot for other reasons.

Last season after a dreadful performance at the opening Rangers-Celtc game of the season that should have seen him demoted, or Conroyed, Dallas was quick to support Thomson claiming that he made one mistake.

During the match Shaun Maloney had two clear cut penalties denied, Maloney and Mark Wilson were booked for diving, Kyle Lafferty went unpunished for a neck high assault on Zheng Zhi and Davie Weir booted Scott McDonald throughout without punishment.

Defending Thomson the bigot from Bonkle said: “Craig and I have had our post match de-brief. Whilst I would compliment Craig for his overall handling of yesterday’s encounter, he is disappointed at his error of judgement when he decided against awarding a penalty to the visiting team in the 12th minute.”

Perhaps in the wake of his friends sacking Thomson may decide that he’d like to spend more time with his family.

Media favourite Kenny Clark too busy to meet MSP’s.

I think you nailed it here Joe. This is a fear that these cheats have to now be seen to be fair and also to be accountable. Most won’t like that now will they?

My memory takes me back to a certain ref, Mr. Callaghan, who failed to send off Celtic’s John Hughes, (the original Yogi, not the recent one), in an Old Firm game, after he had been booked.

The outcry was that it was discovered that particular ref was a Catholic.

He was never to officiate at that level again due to what the establishment deemed obvious bias because he was a Catholic.

Now, this begs the question, “must the reverse be true also”? Must all non-Catholic refs be anti-Celtic? This is how stupid the establishment is.

If honesty is to prevail all grade 1 refs should be replaced because they have stood back and watched the cheating go on for years.

Why should Scottish football have to wait a generation to be rid of these incompetents.

We could use grade 2 refs but I believe we have another Dallas in this bunch so junior refs it is for me anyway.

I don’t mind a ref having a bad game but to have selectively bad games week after week to the benefit of one team is a disgrace and they should hang there heads in shame and resign if they had any dignity or integrity.
