Dougie Dougie's SPL return

Shamed referee Dougie McDonald will take charge of Saturday’s Hibs-Motherwell clash at Easter Road.

The man who lied to Neil Lennon after the Dundee United-Celtic match on October 17 has been given his first SPL match since denying Celtic three penalties at Tannadice.

Dougie Dougie’s lies forced assistant referee Steven Craven to resign with SFA Chief Stewart Regan promising an overhaul of disciplinary matters and the abolition of the Referee Committee who failed to punish Dougie Dougie’s lies.

A month after the incident the SFA have decided to reintroduce the whistler to the top flight despite a number of SPL managers being unhappy that the Edinburgh based ref hasn’t been dismissed.

Despite the various statements from the SFA, Hugh Dallas and a round of media interviews from Dougie Dougie last week he has yet to contact Neil Lennon to apologise or issue a public apology to the Celtic manager.

McDonald was in charge of the Falkirk-Ross County game on Saturday as the SFA attempt to ease one of their favourites back into the fold.

Putting Dougie Dougie in charge of any match involving Celtic, Dundee United or Rangers is the next step for the SFA but with every passing day new allegations are being made about what goes on and the attitudes within the corridors of power.

Celtic’s trip to face St Mirren on Sunday will be refereed by Iain Brines with Craig Thomson in charge of Wednesday’s Hearts-Celtic clash at Tynecastle.
