€2.5m price tag on Celtic striking target

|

Etay ShechterHapoel Tel Aviv have placed a €2.5m price tag on striker Etey Shechter.

The 23-year-old has been in sparkling form over the past 12 months helping Hapoel into the Champions League where they enjoyed a notable 3-0 win over Benfica despite finishing bottom of their group.

The success of reaching the Champions League has forced Hapoel into cashing in on their assets with Schalke and Vilareal also monitoring Shechter.

Celtic would require a work permit to sign the striker who has played in 53% of Israel’s international matches over the last two years but were successful in getting a permit for Biram Kayal.

Speaking earlier this month Shechter admitted: “I have offers from several teams but my agent, Ronen Katsav, told me not to get carried away.

“The one team who really want me and have made the most effort is Celtic. Liverpool and Lyon came to see me play but unfortunately I was injured. There is interest from Schalke and that would be the best move for me.”

Great goal, great celebration, great commentary Allllllllyloooooya!

Gary Hooper’s month long absence with ankle ligament damage and the expected departure of Georgios Samaras have combined to increase Neil Lennon’s need for another striker.
