Snow joke
There are plenty of differences between Patick Thistle and Celtic supporters but on the whole most supporters pay their taxes and take the rough with the smooth when it comes to weather and other inconveniences.
After a grotty snow interrupted week Thistle supporters can this morning look forward to heading along to Firhill to watch their side in action against Ross County.
For no obvious reason Celtic supporters from Glasgow and beyond are denied that opportunity as are Kilmarnock fans who would have travelled to Celtic Park with more confidence than usual.
Why Strathclyde Police called off the Celtic match 48 hours in advance deserves explanation.
There are a lot of roadworks and building going up around the stadium but those factors also effect shoppers heading for the city centre, Parkhead Forge and The Fort which are all within 10 minutes drive of Celtic Park.
Today is as mild a December Saturday as you are likely to find in this country.
We have all been to matches in much worse conditions, we know that and accept it and prepare for the conditions.
Even the roads and streets of East Kilbride are relatively free of the snow and hard packed ice that brought the country to a standstill in midweek.
The met office predict that the thermometer will hit 8 degrees today with a maximum wind speed of 10mph- good enough to temp a few golfers out onto the winter greens.
We all know how ill prepared this country is for a ‘cold snap’ as it’s now termed with the Scottish Government showing that incompetence is also a devolved power from Westminster.
Having the M8 closed for over a day is a complete joke but the forecasts from Thursday onward for a thaw have been spot on- if anything they underestimated the strength of the thaw.
Football can’t afford to treat it’s supporters with contempt and expect them to turn up when it suits them.
Explaining why today’s Celtic match is off while every other aspect of city life takes advantage of a predicted mild afternoon would be a good start.
John Reid probably wasn’t thinking of the weather when he spoke out at the recent AGM but his words are just as valid on that subject as anything else as Thistle and Ross County fans prepare for Firhill.
“We don’t seek special treatment,” he said. “But we won’t be treated as less than anyone else. Those days are gone.”

If the club feels that there is something “sinister” in this decision….they should pursue it…..
One thing’s for sure … a big element of Glasgow’s ‘Finest’ have no time for us….and would take any opportunity to shaft us…..they’ve done it many times before.
I can understand , after recent high profile situations regarding refereeing officials, if the club does not wish to attract any more hostile publicity…..however….if there’s a problem…go for it…if not…we should just get on with it.

The Police mentioned to Celtic they where going to Leave there decision the following day, ( Friday Morning ).
But Celtic took the steps to say no, just cancel it. So the police did.
That’s what I have been informed anyhow.
Until a fuller explanation is given by Celtic/SPL/Strathclyde Police folk are going to wonder why this game was postponed so early.
Total joke, what’s up have the polis lost their snoods???????
My information is that the club and spl jumped the gun. All the polis said was that if the game was on Thursday it wouldn’t have went ahead.

I’m quite glad and think they made the right decision, better than being called off 5 or 6 hours before.
I’m sure there won’t be Partick fans flying in from all over or getting ferry’s etc.
