Izaguirre set to face Hamilton

|

Emilio Izaguirre Celtic newsEmilio Izaguirre will be back in the Celtic team to face Hamilton tomorrow.

The World Cup full-back has been troubled by a groin injury recently and hasn’t featured since the 1-1 draw with Dundee United on November 20.

Izaguirre’s return is a big boost for Neil Lennon as he prepares his side for a hectic festive spell of five games in fifteen days culminating in the January 2 clash with Rangers at Ibrox.

“Emilio should be fit, James Forrest will be fit and Biram is not far away,” Lennon told channel 67 last night.

“Hopefully by the end of next week it’ll only be Shaun and Glenn who’ll be the only long term absentees.

“There’s a lot of games coming up now but we have the squad to cope with that.

“We’ve got the big game at Ibrox looming but we have to get back to winning ways first of all because we drew our last two matches at home.

“The players have had time to reflect on those results but the draw between Inverness and Rangers means that the gap is only three points so it’s still all to play for.

“Hopefully there will be a hunger when the games get started again. The players will be chomping at the bit to get playing again.

“From their point of view there is nothing worse than having prepared all week for a game then finding out that it’s postponed.”

So far the Hamilton match seems to be in no danger from the weather.

No snow is predicted with the overnight temperature expected to be -6.

The lunchtime kick-off gives the match the best possible chance of being played with the match taking place during the ‘warmest’ part of the day.

Tomorrow’s scheduled u-19 match between Celtic and Hearts has been postponed with a new date set for March 15.
