|

Freddi Ljungberg CelticFreddie Ljungberg arrived in Glasgow last night ready to join Celtic.

Whether his registration could be rushed through in time to be on the bench for Sunday’s derby match with Rangers remains to be seen with the transfer window due to open on Saturday January 1- a public holiday.

The Swedish star has now left MLS side Chigaco Fire and is looking to resume his career in Europe.

Asked about the Rangers-Celtic match the 33-year-old joked: “I heard a rumour there’s a big game but we’ll see what happens. I have seen it on TV and have friends who have played in the game.

“It is an amazing thing and of course I would like to play in it.

“We will see how the training goes but of course I’ve tried to keep fit while I haven’t been playing since my last game seven weeks ago.

“Celtic is a massive club and they have amazing fans. We will see what happens while I am here. I am as fit as I have ever been since I had an injury to my hip two years ago.”

Ljungberg was met at Glasgow Airport by Johan Mjallby and will spend a week working with Celtic at Lennoxtown.
