Big Dan defends the defence

|

Daniel MajstorovicDaniel Majstorovic has pleaded the case for the Celtic defence ahead of their derby day clash with Rangers.

The hoops back four have taken a battering from supporters and critics alike despite having one of the best defensive records in the UK.

Chucking away winning positions against Dundee United and Inverness Caley Thistle turned attention on the Celtic defence who then lost another bad goal to Kilmarnock’s Conor Sammon.

Majstorovic is likely to wear the captain’s armband at Ibrox and is sick of the criticism that the Celtic defence is getting.

The Swede claimed: “We’ve conceded less than any top team in the whole of the UK and Rangers still have two more games to play.

“If somebody needs to be criticised for their defence then it is them because they have conceded more goals.

“I don’t know why this bulls**t is coming out.

“It is always like this, but you need to keep on going, we know the quality we have and that is the most important thing.

“In this business there is always talk, there are always different opinions but on the pitch we know the qualities we have.

“We don’t need to change anything, we just have to keep going the way we are.

“We need a big result in a really big game to show people we can come out on top in important matches. This is a really good game for us because it gives us the opportunity to go four points clear at the top of the table.

“Of course, we have some players missing, but it’s time for someone else to come in and show their quality. We are ready.”

The main player to bring in is Freddie Ljungberg.

No-one at Celtic knows the former Arsenal favourite better than his international colleague Majstorovic.

There are many question marks over the fitness and desire of Ljungberg but after a week in training his international team-mate detects a fresh hunger in the Lennon’s latest signing.

Majstorovic added: “Freddie will make a big difference, especially with Shaun Maloney injured. He will become very important for us.

“He was only training here for two days, but I saw something in him, you can feel the hunger.

“I think that he can lift the entire team with his quality and experience. Freddie has a very strong mentality and character and we’ve been missing this kind of player.

“We have played together for Sweden, so I know him quite well. He’s a star, a real quality player. When Freddie’s there, you feel it. It’s good for any team to have this kind of player around you all the time.”

Hip op made Freddie feel 25 again.

Really ? That’s the problem right there.

This guy is the Scott Brown of our defence. Total bomb scare. Horrible signing. Can’t read the game and is soft as shite for a guy his size. Typifies the team. A lot of talk about “Thunder” but no result.

This is the same blinkered view we have had since Strachan.

Sure we won three in a row,but we were dead lucky everyone else was SO bad during that period !!

We just couldn’t seem to see past our results and appreciate we were playing rubbish, but getting away with it.

The same attitude prevailed under Mowbray till someone decided that was enough.

Now we seem to have “The Kings got new Clothes” mentality all over again.

Wake up Dan, we are playing crap and it has to change and SOON, hopefully today, but—
