Celtic respond to newspaper slur

Celtic have issued a low key response to claims that supporters disrespected the minute’s silence in memory of the Ibrox Disaster.

The editorial from The Celtic View captures the mood of the support perfectly- editing the club magazine coverage of a win over Rangers can’t be the toughest of tasks- but stands up for the fans over claims that organised coughing from Celtic supporters disrupted the silence.

In his editorial comment Paul Cuddihy says: “It should be noted that the minute’s silence in memory of the 66 people who tragically lost their lives in the 1971 Ibrox Disaster was impeccably observed, just as most of us knew it would be, and despite what one newspaper columnist would have you believe in a disappointing attempt to manufacture criticism of the Celtic support.”
