Craig Thomson in charge of Hibs v Celtic

Craig Thomson has been appointed to referee Saturday’s match between Hibs and Celtic with Willie Collum his fourth official.

Thomson was in charge of Celtic’s 2-0 win over Rangers at Ibrox on January 2 and by recent standards had a relatively decent game apart from his decision not to give Madjid Bougherra a second yellow card for the foul that led to Celtic’s second goal scored by Georgios Samaras from the penalty spot.

Stuart MacAuley and Brian McGarry will be Thomson’s assistant with Collum on dug out duty keeping tabs on Neil Lennon and Colin Calderwood.

Collum will be the man in the middle for Celtic’s re-arranged SPL match at Hamilton on Tuesday.

Even allowing for the limited number of officials available for SPL games it does seem that the same officials seem to be getting Celtic matches.

Surely the SFA should ensure that the referee in charge of match on the Wednesday isn’t involved again in any capacity with the same team at the weekend.

Brian Winter will referee Rangers home match with St Mirren on Saturday.
