Interview with Twitter bhoy @joe16led

Joe Ledley Celtic newsTwitter bhoy Joe Ledley has no regrets about his move to Celtic or going on-line.

The Welsh midfielder has turned in commanding back-to-back performances against Hearts and Aberdeen and is happy to share his experiences on-line with his growing army of twitter followers.

“Wot a day. Great result from the boys” he tweeted after beating Aberdeen on Saturday. “Fans were brill thanks for your support. Now looking forward to usher tonight.”

Like anything else footballers need to be careful about how they use social media but after following the example of his good lady the Welsh Celt is enjoying the additional interaction of Twitter.

“My Mrs was going on about how good it was and stuff like that so I decided to join,” the midfielder explained. “It allows us to meet other people that we don’t see week in week out.

“I’ve got mates in and out of football who are on twitter and it’s good to interact with other people.

“The supporters come and support us week in week out so it’s great to give something back to them. There’s nothing wrong with doing a little tweet now and then.”

Twitter however can be a costly business with Ryan Babel picking up a £10,000 fine for sending on a photo-shopped picture of Howard Webb in a Manchester United shirt with Aldershot fining and transfer listing Marvin Morgan after slagging off supporters.

Ledley follows the example of Rio Ferdinand and steers clear of anything likely to land him in hot water with the authorities.

“There are certain things that we can’t put on twitter but we should know ourselves not to do stuff like that,” he added. “It’s just to give something back to the fans and to hook up with other people.

“I follow Rio and he seems to be really down to earth, it’s great to see him on-line considering how good a player he is.

“There’s a few of us on Twitter at Celtic but (Bishop) Crosas is the top man, he always tweets. Ki is on a lot as well but none of us understand what he’s saying.”

On the park things are going just as well for Ledley after his controversial Bosman move from Cardiff during the summer.

Manager Dave Jones was far from happy at losing the midfielder without any transfer fee with the club assuming that he’d move to the ‘glamour’ of the Premiership.

Six months after heading north to Celtic Ledley is in top form and in no doubt that he made the right move to sign for Neil Lennon’s side.

It takes a little time to settle after any move but it was probably the right decision to come up here and play,” the Welshman added. “This is a massive club and the fans have been brilliant to me, it’s a pleasure to play for Celtic.

“Some Cardiff fans were disappointed that they didn’t get any money when I left but it’s my decision and I don’t think that they realise how big this club is.

“I felt it was the right move and now with the team doing well I want to get some medals.

“We’re starting to play well, everything is positive and we’re looking forward to the next game. Aberdeen will be tough because they’ll be looking for revenge

“At Hampden we put in a fantastic performance. I felt that we completely dominated the game straight from the whistle, that’s what you need to do in these sort of games

“Maybe in the second half we could have did a bit more but it was a great team performance and we’re looking forward to the final.

“We’re working well as a team which is great to see- from the front two back we’re everywhere on the park.

“We had a couple of draws at the end of the year, teams scoring late on against us but we’re finding our feet now and the players are looking forward to every match.

“People have to realise that a lot of players have come into the team, it takes time to gel but we’re working together, working for the coaches and trying to win the league.

“Our win at Rangers at New Year was vital, we deserved the win and we’re looking forward to going there again in the cup and keeping our run going.”
