Loan bid for Efrain Juarez

Italian side Brescia have moved to take Efrain Juarez on loan until the end of the season.

The midfielder has dropped dramatically out of the picture at Celtic after an impressive start to the season.

Juarez scored against Braga and Utrecht in the opening weeks of the season before being hit with a six month ban from international football for breaking a curfew following a friendly with Columbia.

The emergence of Ki Sung-Yeung and recent form of Biram Kayal has pushed the Mexican out of Neil Lennon’s plans although he did make a rare appearance as a substitute in the 4-0 win over Hearts on Wednesday.

Ki’s return from the Asian Cup next week and the signing of Kris Commons will put Juarez further down the pecking order with Celtic happy for the midfielder to move out on loan until the end of the season.

Juarez was one of Neil Lennon’s first signings arriving at Celtic in July for £3m from PUMAS Unam after impressing during the World Cup.

Brescia are currently sitting in second bottom place in Serie A and are at home to Chievo on Sunday.

Coach Mario Beretta took over in December from Giuseppe Iachini as the yo-yo club attempt to beat the drop back to Seria B.

Juarez has started 8 matches for Celtic this season and made six substitute appearances.
